Fully Funding Schools

Currently our schools are relying heavily on local income taxes, and property taxes to get their funding. That is entirely unconstitutional as ruled by the Ohio Supreme Court in 1997. Public schools are supposed to be funded by the state in order to ensure that outcomes of students are similar no matter your location or background. This can't happen when relying on property taxes, since more affluent neighborhoods will have more funding while poorer districts will suffer. The state is currently severely underfunding public schools providing only about 6% of the needed funding for the 2025-2026 school year. They shorted public schools by $2.75 billion and directed $1.02 billion to private schools. I will fight to fairly fund public schools which will help relieve the need for property tax levies.
