Data Centers are extremely unpopular for a reason. They are doing backroom deals to get the approval, and don't do a whole lot for the local population. They take massive amounts of water and electricity, provide ample construction jobs but only around 25 permanent positions. They then use those data centers for AI to steal more jobs. All of this harm before we even begin to touch on the water pollution and noise pollution. These companies keep claiming the centers are good for the communities, but how good are they when the companies are signing backroom deals? If I ran a company and it was going to do wonders for a community I would be screaming it from the rooftops and have a massive campaign showing off all the ways it would benefit the community. They are hiding in the dark for a reason, its time we shine a light on them and block them from taking advantage of our citizens and our land.
