School Vouchers need to go, as does public schools having to provide transportation for private school students. "School choice!" It sounds so good doesn't it? Until you look into the program deeper. Public schools are having to rely more and more on local taxes to stay afloat, this is causing people to risk their homes if they can't afford the property taxes. Over a billion dollars a year are being funneled to private schools and most of that is to give a break to the wealthy whose children were already enrolled. Private schools can and do discriminate so a lot of taxpayer funds are being rerouted to these schools where not every Ohioan can attend. School choice is a mantra that sounds good until you just barely scratch the surface of the program and realize its simply a way to drain more money out of Ohioans and public schools.
